I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UC Santa Barbara, affiliated with the Department of Computer Science. Meanwhile, I am also a senior research scientist at Google Research. I obtained my PhD degree at UC San Diego in Computer Science, advised by Prof. Garrison W. Cottrell.

Qin focuses her research on robustness of machine learning, including adversarial robustness and out-of-distribution generalization. In addition, she has an interest in developing general machine learning algorithms and applying them to computer vision, natural language processing, and healthcare applications, especially diabetes.
