The R27 was a New York City Subway car model built by the St. Louis Car Company from 1960 to 1961 for the IND/BMT B Division. A total of 230 cars were built, arranged in married pairs. Two versions were manufactured: Westinghouse (WH)-powered cars and General Electric (GE)-powered cars. The first R27s entered service on November 15, 1960.

2009年2月10日 · The R27/R30/R30A retired because they were in bad shape/poor condition and it had no AC and they were replaced by the R68/R68A. When the R44/R46 GOH was over in 1992 then the R30 retired in 1993 since the R68/R68A were replacing them.

Nobody was talking about just sending these old and damaged cars back into service. Most of the discussion was about why they weren't added to the museum fleet and fixed up so they could run like the Low-Vs or the Arnines.
