The R6-series astromech droid was the sixth astromech droid model made by Industrial Automaton under their R-series of droids. Released soon after the Battle of Endor, the R6 was IA's attempt at repairing their own reputation after the tremendous failure that was their R5 series.

R6 astromech droids[2] also known as the R6-series[6] were a series of astromech droids.[2] Much like the R5 series,[7] the R6's head was shaped like a conical frustum, but its eye piece more closely resembled[8] that of the R2 series.[9]

R-series droids R3-S6, U9-C4 and R4-P17. R-series was a line of astromech droids [1] manufactured by Industrial Automaton, [2] including the popular R2 series droids, such as R2-D2. [3] . R-series models continued to see use during the days of the Cold War; even though some of its models had been operating for almost a century at that point. [4]

KEB R6 regen units use advanced power electronics and a proprietary control algorithm called Natural Current Modulation (NCM) to commutate current back to the grid. When paired with a VFD in overhauling applications, the R6 regen drive replaces traditional braking resistors.

Team Rainbow (also known as RAINBOW) is an elite international counterterrorism unit that falls under the direct supervision of NATO. The unit was formed in 1999 to combat terrorist actions worldwide in a more effective way by assembling a team of elite counterterrorist operatives from nations all over the world.

The R6 unit was released after the Battle of Endor by Industrial Automaton to cover the huge failure of the R5 unit. Its programming was similar to that of the R2 unit, although it was built using the shell similar to that of the R5.

Much like the R5 series, the R6’s head was shaped like a conical frustum, but its eye piece more closely resembled that of the R2 series. The R6 series existed by the time of the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and Separatist Alliance. At least one R6 unit was part of the Hissrich droid unit.

This nameless R6 series astromech droid was released in May 2023 as part of a 6-pack of droids; The entire 6-pack was part of Disney's PRIDE collection in 2023 which celebrated the LGBTQ+ communities; When lined-up the droids show the colors of a rainbow starting with red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet
