The R68 is a B Division New York City Subway car order consisting of 425 cars built by the Westinghouse-Amrail Company (aka Francorail), a joint venture of Westinghouse, ANF Industrie, Jeumont Schneider, and Alsthom.The cars were built in France from 1986 to 1988 and shipped through New York Harbor.Of the cars in the fleet, 416 are arranged in four-car sets while the other nine are single cars.

The R143s are newer, have LED stripmaps and signage, periwinkle seats and white walls. 2023年6月9日 · You need 755 60 foot R268s to replace the entire R68 fleet, They'll probably add an additional 45 cars for fleet expansion totaling up to 800 cars. Makes me think the Base would be at least 400 cars with the option order being 400 cars.

Starting in 2025, the agency will begin retiring more than 1,700 subway cars from its aging R46, R62/62A, and R68/R68A fleets, which have been in service since the 1980s.
