The JLC Mk XI ‘RAF’ is scarce by comparison at 2,950, but rarer still is the Royal Australian Air Force Jaeger-LeCoultre Mark XI ‘RAAF’, limited to approximately 1,020 originally issued, of which far fewer remain in the market today.

G&S contracted the production of the Mark XI, and distributed finished watches to RAF and RAAF. JLC, IWC, Longines and Omega all had watches that met the Mark XI specificiation luminous markers at 3, 6, 9, 12 5 dial variants (3 RAF, 2 RAAF). Broad arrow on dial was most likely added after coming from JLC.

This is a very rare stainless steel Mark 11 made by Jaeger-LeCoultre (JLC) for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) circa 1955. Mark 11s were manufactured by IWC and JLC based on specifications provided by the British Military Defense (MoD) in 1948.

Here, we have a JLC Mark XI from the last year of its production run in nice condition. This example was issued to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), as designated on the caseback. As per the regulations of the RAAF, this watch has a "broad arrow" proof mark on the caseback and the movement has non-fixed spring bars.

The JLC was equipped with the JLC Cal. 488/SBr, a chronometer-grade movement with few contemporary peers.

The JLC Mark 11 was only in production for a relatively short time--from 1948 to 1953 with around only 2,950 total watches built in several batches. Further, the JLC watch was supplied to the RAF and then later to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in 1953.

The watch on the right is my ex RAAF International Watch Company Mark 11 with an IWC band and buckle. This is the non-stitched IWC band (code IWA00295, but both stitched and non-stitched may have the same number so check/specify when ordering) and I think it's a perfect match for the watch.
