The RLB (Reichsluftschutzbund) was a public German air defense association. Helmet decals existed with many variations, both in terms of designs and colors. Since the members were not military, this decal can be found on all kinds of helmets, German or not.

Reichsluftschutzbund (RLB) The National air protection league was formed in 1933 and made up of civilian volunteers. The helmet insignia changed to the winged Luftschutz decal in 1938 (source L Baer), the helmets also received a different paint color.

Where possible we photograph genuine helmet decals - we have access to one of the worlds best militaria dealers. We use most of the publications on German Helmets where we can't find an original. Customers send us pictures of their genuine rare helmets and/or decals.

Some decals have white as base color color on top of which are printed black and/or red. Examples below. Most others have a silver base color (also called pulver by collectors) on top of which black and blue (RLB) or green (RLB) are printed. Examples below. Only one decal has a gold colored base namely the Kriegsmarine decal.

Water decal. Put it in water a few minutes. The decal will separate from the backboard. Then move it to your helmet. Use some brushes to push the bubbles out. Wait until the decal dry.
