2021年10月8日 · Hypothetically if you play Re8 now white has alternatives even though you’ve saved your rook. (Bxe6+, fxe6, Nf3, Bc5). It creates an isolated pawn and you’d rather have your rook on an open file anyway regardless of the bishop pair you grant your opponent. I think/assume Rg8 would be marginally better but I haven’t checked.

FWIW, it's not a forced mate but escaping will cost white a fair amount of material which will likely cost the game eventually. for White. 1... Rxh2?? (1... Qxc4+!!
