Unlike traditional methods, where incisions are made separately before placing the follicles, the implanter pen combines these steps, allowing for simultaneous incision and implantation.

An implanter pen is an instrument used by physicians to transfer follicular hair unit grafts onto the scalp – a follicular unit typically contains anywhere from one to four healthy hairs.

The device features a hollow needle and a spring-loaded plunger, similar to a ball-point pen. A graft is placed inside the needle, which is used to pierce the skin and create a recipient site.

The follicular units are implanted one by one directly into the transplant area in a specific direction, angle and depth. The use of the implanter pen provides channel incisions and deposit stages at the same time, which results in decreased trauma and blood loss during the transplant.
