FOGO stands for 'Food Organics, Garden Organics'. The 3-bin FOGO system--consisting of new 240L lime-green lidded bin (collected weekly) and a 120L red general waste bin (collected fortnightly)--commenced roll out in the Perth Metropolitan area in 2019.

The FOGO bin, with its lime-green lid, is supplied to residents together with a yellow-lidded recycling bin and a smaller, red-lidded bin for general waste. Most local governments also provide a kitchen caddy and some certified Australian Standard compostable caddy liners to help you sort your waste in the kitchen.

PLEASE DO NOT put any plastics or biodegrable plastics, cardboard, plastic bags, cling wrap, teabags, glass, tins and cans, foil, Tetrapaks, nappies, treated timber, garden equipment, gravel, rocks or building material into your Green lid FOGO bin. Fireplace ash, pet waste, kitty litter and dead animals are also not suitable - these can go in the Red lid landfill bin.
