XIFAXAN ® (rifaximin) 550 mg tablets are indicated for the reduction in risk of overt hepatic encephalopathy (HE) recurrence in adults and for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea (IBS-D) in adults.

Indication: Reduction in recurrence of episodes of overt hepatic encephalopathy in patients ≥ 18 years of age. Dosage and administration: 550 mg twice a day as long term treatment, taken orally with a glass of water, with or without food. No specific dosing adjustment is necessary for patients with hepatic insufficiency or for the elderly.
