Anyone using RØDE M5 mics - homerecording.com
May 2, 2024 · I own a pair of Rode M5 and have recorded violins and acoustic guitars with them many times. They are a good quality, clear detailed mic. I have also seen a shoot out that included Neumann KM 184, Rode M5, and Behringer C2 microphones. Microphone placement made much more of a difference than differences between any of the microphones.
Rode M5 or NT5? - HomeRecording.com
Jun 30, 2015 · The Rode NT5 is a more expensive mic, and this should relate to sounding better. The M5 has very good reviews and I would guess it will sound very good for the price. Depends on your budget as you can buy a pair of M5's for the same price as a single NT5.
Rode NT5 vs Neumann KM184 my Review. - HomeRecording.com
Apr 30, 2003 · Conclusion is that even though the Rode's were different sounding they are/were worth every penny I paid (212.50 plus shipping). I also own a rode NTK and If I was not a fan of Rode Mics after the NTK (which I was beacause it is a GREAT mic) then I sure am now. If your in the market for a new flavor of SDC's I would highly reccomend them.
mic is cutting out/fading out during recording
May 18, 2017 · Rode nt1 frustrating problem Hey guys, I'm Mike. Over the last one month I've been dealing with the problem where my Rode Cuts out immediately I start singing/talking into it. I have noticed that unplugging and replugging does not bring back the sound... Only thing that makes it pick again is opening the bottom cover and closing it again, then ...
Behringer c-2 or Rode nt5? - HomeRecording.com
Aug 14, 2009 · So im going to buy some new overheads, and i can get a couple of c2s for $50, or i could get a couple of nt5s for 300, plus an m3 (for high hat) for one dollar with rodes promotion. Is it worth it to pay the extra money for the nt5s? any sample clips of either of the 2 …
Hissing/White Noise - HomeRecording.com
Apr 22, 2020 · The Neumann is about 10dBA lower in noise than the Rode, plus it puts out a stronger signal, 23mv/Pa vs 15mv/Pa for the Rode. That means you can keep the preamp on the H5 lower with the same output. With the Neumann being just a cardioid vs a supercardioid, it should pick up a wider sound field for off axis birds.
SM57 for acoustic guitar - with or without windshield?
Feb 10, 2018 · The Rode M5 mics look very affordable and seem to get general good reviews. I'm looking more at the SE Electronics SE5 though. Double the price of the M5s at around £300 street, but reviews are all excellent.
Upright Piano Mic Choice | HomeRecording.com
Jul 24, 2020 · This is for research. I have an upright piano that I would like to mic with a couple of pencil mics pointing down into where the strings are with the top lid open. Would a Rode M5 pair be sufficient or are there other pairs of mics that do a better job for a similar price?

Jan 9, 2023 · You can get a good idea of the system noise level if you can put the mics and unit under several layers of pillows in a quiet room. I've done that and the system noise was well below a quiet room at night. I tested with both my Rode M5 and AKG P170 SDC mics and both were lower in noise than the internal mics.
Mic Comparisons : 10 SDCs For Acoustic Guitar
Sep 13, 2021 · A year or so back I did a comparison of my SDCs. An old CAD 1200XL, AKG P170, Rode M5 and Lauten LA120, plus my NT1. The Cad and AKG were really close, the Lauten sounded nicely balanced. The M5 had the least bottom end, but I remember someone commenting that it would probably sit in the mix the best.
