2023年2月25日 · You can fabricate your own USB or RS-232 Programming Cable but would need the connector, pins, and tool to crimp the pins. The RS-232 Data Cable is a very cost-effective option but you'd still need to place a jumper between Pins 14 & 15 before the radio will power up, even if Ignition sense is disabled.

2014年8月18日 · There is a serial port cable (typically comes with new scanners), that is the 9 pin cable. You will typically only see serial ports on older model computers, and typically they are on the motherboard (back of the computer). Most laptops have this plug. The second cable (most of the time sold separately) is the USB cable.

It should be noted that RS-232 is a +/- 12 volt signal (24 volt change). The PRO-92 (which the above cable works with as well) uses 5 volt technology and the later scanners use 3.3 volt technology.

2020年6月20日 · The KPG-46 is a serial port programmer for those radios, and the magic behind it is a RS232 to TTL level converter chip that allows the radio to talk to the computer. I built mine on a breadboard and it cost about $11. It was a MAX232, 7 caps and a 78L05.

2015年10月2日 · Not really trying to resurrect this thread. Just want to pass this information along. There is a difference in a 232 null modem cable and a 232-c. That's where I originally went wrong. Bought a 232-c or straight cable and wamo I now have the computer control thr gig. So if anybody is struggling with this like I did the 9 pin 232-c cable will work.

2019年7月6日 · On the cable made for the 8200 between the 8200 connector and the DB9 there is a level converter that goes from TTL+5 to RS232 with +- voltages. You either need a MAX232 chip or a transistor circuit for that in a DB9 to FFC AR8000 cable.
