One of my favorite things to do is to question authority (imagine how much my four years in the Corps was). In the summer - run the water thru the Sawyer, pop in a chlorine dioxide tablet and 15 min later, I have good water. Also - the Sawyer is good with most 'soda' bottles, I carry a 1L SmartWater bottle instead of the bags. Easier to fill.
