Dec 2, 2003 · Series 2 is the better car to buy cause you can run better flowing exhaust and still be legal. S3 tiped in at the point of "archaic" noise restrictions. Stuff like brakes and running gear are in too weak to handle serious 13BT power. The diffs are nice, but I have proved a S2 diff can take "decent power" when fitted with a race LSD.

S6 is up to '95, then S7 to '98 and finally S8 to '02, but internally there's actually 6 revisions of the FD alone. They roughly coincide with the series terms. Here's a great link to it (JP models): http://www.rx7.net.nz/fd-jp-models.html. Post '95 is also confusing.

Nov 10, 2012 · Getting the basics out the way: • The chassis has done 94,000 miles now. The engine, having been replaced earlier this year, is believed to have done ~60,000 miles. Used by a chap in Nottingham as a daily driver from the late 80s till mid 90s, he then put the rx7 in his garage when he got a company car and pretty much forgot about it.

Dec 24, 2013 · The Mazda diffs basics. All FB RX7 diffs are 7” diffs, known as medium size diffs. The early piston diffs are small diffs and the 13B powered cars (RX4 and RX5) are large diffs. The diff size is based on the size of the crown wheel. The S1 and S2 RX7 diffs are 24 spline. The S3 RX7 diffs are 26 spline.
