2020年9月26日 · Furthermore, a fund like VYM picks dividend stocks based on a set of criteria that end up indirectly biased towards value stocks. By doing so, you're missing out most of the serious returns of the market. Here is a simple backtest comparing VYM with the S&P 500 going back 14 years. You have almost total market correlation, the same drawdown ...

2023年2月8日 · Although SCHD has had better performance recently, 40% of it is concentrated into only 10 stocks. In addition, the fund only has 104 stocks in it altogether. VYM has a 23% concentration in its top 10 and holds 444 stocks. Of course that doesn't mean a person has to pick one vs. the other. I own SCHD as well, just in a smaller proportion.
Noob here. Why is SCHD preferred a lot more than VYM?
2023年6月8日 · The difference is that SCHD filters out low quality names while VYM includes them. VYM's inclusion of everything is a textbook example of "deworsification," in that it includes so much unneeded junk, it heavily weighs down on its performance. VYM heavily lags SCHD, DGRO, DGRW, SPY, VTI, etc in total returns.

Here a comparison of the 5-year performance without dividend; dividend is more or less the same for both (2.79% vs 2.89% per today): SCHD versus VYM. Personally I don't like the idea of VYM to buy just based on dividend yield. You will get many falling knives. The SCHD with the 4 criteria, dividend yield being just one of it, seems to work better.
VIG - VYM - DGRO - SCHD : r/ETFs - Reddit
2021年8月21日 · I declined on VIG due to the low yield. DGRO and SCHD cohld be interchangeable, but 350+ 102 stocks from Schd makes dgro a great play. I do have weight in SCHD AND VYM . Dgro is a pure dividend growth play for me. I keep 3 of those around, 40% VYM/SCHD and 20% DGRO for the sake of value tilt and diversification.
