2024年12月2日 · Engineers have begun assembling two giant tunnelling machines that will dig the final 4.5 miles of underground high-speed railway – carrying HS2 trains into the heart of London. Weighing an incredible 1,250 tonnes, each of the tunnel boring machines (TBMs) will launch from an underground box at one end of the project’s Old Oak Common station.

Skanska Costain STRABAG Joint Venture (SCS JV) are working together to deliver HS2 along the final 26.4km of HS2’s journey to its southern terminus in Euston. The JV are completing challenging works taking the railway from Northolt to Euston via Old Oak Common, building a variety of structures requiring expert precision and care.

This brings the value of SCS’ contracts with HS2 Ltd for Phase One to over £3.8bn.
