The Educational Opportunity & Pathway Programs (EOPP) at San Francisco State University have improved access and retention of historically underserved (low income, first generation college) students by facilitating their matriculation into SF State and by providing a support system for their success.

EOP at SF State only admits applicants in the Fall semester. Notification of admission to SF State and notification of admission to EOP are two separate steps. A student must first be admitted to SF State before their EOP file is reviewed.

EOP provides academic advising services in the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. To help facilitate your success at SF State, EOP students are encouraged to see their EOP advisor twice per semester. EOP provides mentorship services in the Fall, Spring, & Summer semesters. Our Mentoring program offers positive, active and experiential mentoring by pairing students with experienced EOP students. Our hope is to increase EOP student achievement by engaging in co-curricular participation with peers, faculty and staff.

The EOP Summer Bridge Program is a transitional program for incoming first-time freshmen and transfer students at SF State. Participants are provided the opportunity learn about a variety of university resources and build community with other EOP students and staff.

Reginald Majors was the first EOP Director at SF State. Several other EOP pilot programs emerged at this time, which as a result of the 1969 Harmer Bill (SB 1072) eventually developed into systemwide, State-funded EOP programs.
