The RAI 40-700 class (see Iranian Railways RC4) of eight engines were exported to Iran in the early eighties for use on the electrified stretches near the then-Soviet border; these were based on Rc4 but with Rm-type bogies, sand-proof air filters and no round windows on the side.

Rc4-loken levererades i SJ:s klassiska orange färgsättning med vita linjer. Från mitten av 1990-talet målades en del av loken om i SJ:s nya blå färg, men flera av loken hade kvar sin orange färg vid Green Cargos övertagande av loken 2001.

The EMD AEM-7 is a twin-cab four-axle 7,000 hp (5.2 MW) B-B electric locomotive built by Electro-Motive Division (EMD) and ASEA between 1978 and 1988. The locomotive is a derivative of the Swedish SJ Rc4 designed for passenger service in the United States.

Fem lok byggdes om för högre sth (160 km/h) för trafik med posttåg, och gavs litt Rc4P. Green Cargo byggde om 60 ytterligare Rc4 till växellok 2007-2009, med radiostyrning och växlarplattformar. En Rc4 såldes 2014 till Nordisk tågkraft och åtta till Nordic Re-finance. Ytterligare 25 Rc4 såldes till Nordic Re-finance 2024.

2018年7月6日 · The first to arrive, in August 1976, was brand-new SJ Rc4 electric loco, Rc4 1166, built by Allmänna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget (ASEA). This was painted in Amtrak livery and numbered X995. Until April 1977, it was tested on the Northeast Corridor between New York and Washington DC at up to 200km/h.

RC4 The Rc1 entered service on the Swedish State Railways, Statens Järnvägar (SJ) in 1967, the world's first thyristor controlled locomotive. Built by Allmanna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget (ASEA); like many European designs it's ability to serve as a mixed traffic locomotive was an important consideration.

2024年1月25日 · Based in the Swedish SJ Rc4 design, the AEM-7 was built by EMD in the United States primarily for AMTRAK passenger services. The EMD AEM-7 was an electric-driven locomotive utilized along the American Northeast, primarily by passenger-hauler AMTRAK, and built in 65 total units from 1978 to 1988.

There is also a Norwegian version of the Swedish Rc4-s, El16, which also has, apart from all equipment from Rc4, higher power output (4440 kW vs. 3600 kW), an extra electrical braking system and reinforced and pointed front (and rear) so the loco can run through snow obstacle without damage.

The Rc class is the most used electric locomotive in Sweden. Rc is a universal locomotive used both in freight and passenger trains. The largest operator is Green Cargo, although SJ, Tågab, Hector Rail and the Swedish Transport Administration operate it as well. Previous operators include Veolia Transport.
