The Saab 29 Tunnan (The Barrel), colloquially also Flygande Tunnan (The Flying Barrel), [Nb 1][1][2] is an early jet-powered fighter aircraft designed and produced by the Swedish aircraft manufacturer Saab.

2024年2月26日 · The Saab 29 was the first European, post WWII, swept-wing jet fighter in service (the Messerschmitt Me262 being the first ever). It had a short, barrel-like fuselage and swept wings. The J29 had high performance and heavy armament. The last versions had dogtooth wing extensions, an afterburner, and carried Sidewinder AAMs. 661 were built.

Among the earliest of these fighters was the SAAB J 29 "Tunnan (Barrel)", a portly aircraft that was surprisingly fast and agile, and the "SAAB 32 Lansen (Lance)" attack fighter. Both provided excellent service to the Flygvapnet, the Swedish air force. This document provides a history and description of the Tunnan and Lansen.
