Vid projektförhandlingar mellan SAAB och KFF den 20 juni 1945 godkändes SAAB:s utkast, projekt L-27, att ligga till grund för fortsatt utveckling av "Jx-konceptet". För det reserverades typbeteckningen J 27 i det att de strax dessförinnan från USA inköpta flygplanen av typ Mustang givits beteckningen J 26.

Saab 27 (projektnamn: L-27, avsedd militärbeteckning: J 27) var ett projekterat jaktflygplan konstruerat av Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget (SAAB) under andra halvan av 1940-talet. Flygplanet hade visuella likheter med de brittiska jaktflygplanen Supermarine Spitfire [1], Supermarine Spiteful och Fairey Firefly.

L'avion fut désigné Saab 27, puis L 27 et enfin J 27 par la force aérienne. Il ressemblait à un Spitfire 22 ou un Spiteful, notamment à cause de sa verrière en bulle. Les ailes ressemblaient à celles du Fairey Firefly, avec des volets Youngman.
