SALI Alliance Announces Next Release of Legal Matter Specification Standard (LMSS) 1.0, Revision 2

SALI is a not-for-profit organization comprised of legal industry professionals from legal operations, law firms and solution providers with the goal of developing open, practical industry standards for efficient and innovative legal services.

With Version 1.0 of the API standard, that promise becomes reality. "The SALI API unlocks the power of SALI's 17,000+ unique tags for legal matters and documents, making data truly interoperable across organizations for the first time," said Toby Brown, President of SALI.

Who is involved in the SALI Alliance? The SALI Alliance is an independent non-profit organization open to all stakeholders in the legal community. Members include law firms, companies, legal service providers, legal industry associations and academic institutions.

ALM’s AI-enhanced litigation alerting tool has incorporated SALI taxonomy to allow for more standardized classification, more granular search and more actionable case alerts.

The SALI Alliance has set itself a truly significant goal: to build a common standard for describing legal work, in effect a ‘common language’ to allow all lawyers, at least in the US for now, to turn the opaque and variable into the clear, shared and identifiable.
