2024年10月12日 · Non-profit charity Drive Toward a Cure paid tribute to racing great Sam Posey at Lime Rock Park racetrack on October 10.

Sam Posey started out competing in Formula Vee at Lime Rock Park during the mid-1960’s. In 1967, he became the first driver to complete a lap in less than a minute, with a 58.6 second lap around the 1.53 mile Connecticut road course. He scored a win there in 1969 driving a Carroll Shelby prepared Ford Mustang.

As a sports car racer, Posey won the 1966 Watkins Glen 500km and then placed third in SCCA’s 1967 U.S. Road Racing Championship. He teamed with 2 Hall of Famers, Roger Penske as owner and Mark Donohue as lead Camaro driver, in the 1968 Trans Am Series.
