That plastic "starburst" nameplate (headbadge) was used from 1960 through 1963 on several of the higher end Schwinn bikes including the Jaguar. It was unique in that it appeared to be chrome plated plastic and was attached to the head tube with adhesive and not with screws.

The ordinal dating was adopted for Schwinn's domestic production in 1976. Some Japanese bikes may have an 'X' in the month position of the frame serial number. This was used to keep the physical year of production, for example 'X9' -- December of 1979, with the model year of the remainder of the production for that model -- 1980.

2025年2月20日 · The late 70's early 80's Schwinn stuff used 3 different wheel sizing standards Schwinn which were denoted by the s and a letter or number, American inch standard noted by the inch 1/4 slash and NJS noted by the number and decimal point .

2012年3月13日 · Re: My new Jaguar « Reply #15 on: January 30, 2012, 02:46:29 PM » Started polishing chrome today.Lot to polish.I opened the tank and I dont think it ever had batteries in it.The horn blasted after two taps and batteries were installed.The back taillight has also the brake light mechanism in it.
