2017年10月3日 · Purpose The purpose of this document is to define the Regional Reliability Plan for the SERC Reliability Corporation (SERC) Region, and to identify the responsible entities and roles within that plan. The goal of the Regional Reliability Plan is to maintain the reliability of the bulk power system.

The SERC Region & Natural Gas In the SERC region, around 50% of generation today uses natural gas. More is planned in the future. Some of those natural gas facilities will be near existing pipelines. Some will need new pipeline infrastructure. There is a mix of firm gas supply and non-firm, a mix of firm gas transportation and non-firm.

Traditional wholesale electricity markets exist primarily in the Southeast, Southwest and Northwest where utilities are responsible for system operations and management, and, typically, for providing power to retail consumers.

This pamphlet presents historical and projected seasonal peak-hour demand, annual net energy for load, capacity resource and other information for the SERC Reliability Corporation (SERC) region and each of its five sub-regions. The intent is to concisely summarize data that are useful to SERC members and those interested in the organi-zation.

SERC’s mission is to reduce risks to the reliability and security of the electric grid (also known as the bulk power system) for today and the future.

2022年5月5日 · The SeRC is an integral component in maintaining the reliability of the Eastern Interconnection and reliability of the Southeastern Subregion of the Bulk Electric System (BES). The SeRC, in coordination with the members, is responsible for assuring the reliability and integrity of the BES in accordance with NERC Reliability Standards.

2020年7月7日 · SERC covers approximately 350,000 square miles and now serves a population estimated at 69 million, or about 20% of the total United States. NERC estimates that SERC’s total internal electricity demand this summer will be 181 GW, making it the largest assessment area in terms of electricity demand.

Mandatory reliability standards have been developed by the electric power industry and approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to ensure coordinated electric system operations.
