What is an SFP+ cable, and what's it actually used for?
SFP+'s are keyed so that an SFP+ module will not insert into an SFP port, but the reverse is possible. I've been told that an SFP+ won't insert into an SFP port, but generally, they seem to seat. An SFP+ optic won't work at all in an SFP port but an SFP optic will generally work in an SFP+ port, but at reduced speeds.
10G SFP+ or RJ45 Copper? : r/homelab - Reddit
2021年6月28日 · Now if we're talking 10G copper vs DAC in an SFP+ environment, you have to factor in the SFP+ 10GbaseT modules, which run at least $40 per port (two needed for a connection!). So if you decide to stick with SFP+ switches and adapters for their flexibility, then 10GbaseT becomes much more expensive. As always, it's a bunch of trade-offs.
10g rj45 vs sfp+ : r/homelab - Reddit
2023年6月10日 · SFP+ using a DAC is the best option. SFP+ using Fiber, is the next best option. SFP+ using copper(RJ45) is the worst option Fiber, can be the most forgiving on different speed configurations. It IS possible to mix-match speeds, but, is completely unsupported, and not recommended. However, it can work. Just uh, set it to 10G, and see what happens.
Can SFP+ handle 2.5gbps? : r/HomeNetworking - Reddit
2023年8月15日 · SFP+ is rated for up to 10Gbps and most SFP+'s will provide this data rate. While DAC's can be very convenient they do have a higher latency than fiber. Check out fs.com as a great resource to learn and also for affordable SFP's
SFP+ cable in SFP port? : r/UNIFI - Reddit
2021年5月15日 · I have the same DAC cable connecting the LAN SFP+ from a UDMP to a SFP port of an Gen1 16-150w switch. The only thing I did was to disable authonegotiation and set both ports fixed at 1 Gbps. I also have a Ubiquiti 10/100/1000 Gbps SFP RJ45 adapter working without issues on the WAN* SFP+ port of the same UDMP. *Edited
Early stages of home networking: SFP & SFP+ : …
2023年3月20日 · Lots of pro-sumer gear, and some newer consumer gear have SFP/SFP+ ports. TP-Link, Zyxel, NetGear, etc. If you use Fios, and your router has an SFP/SFP+ port, you could use that port to link to a network switch or other device that has an SFP/SFP+ port, though you need to make sure that both ports support the speed you're looking for.
Unifi Dream Machine SFP+ Question : r/Ubiquiti - Reddit
I understand that the Dream Machine Pro has an SFP+ port for a 10G connection but the Switch I've purchased only has a 1G connection. From recent posts I've read in this subreddit, there appears to be some vagueness on whether or not the Dream Machine Pro will support backward compatibility from 10G to a 1G connection.
