NGC 7822 is a young star forming complex in the constellation of Cepheus. The complex encompasses the emission region designated Sharpless 171, and the young cluster of stars named Berkeley 59.

Sharpless2-171 is part of a bigger nebula, NGC 7822, in Cepheus. It is an emission nebula with elephant trunks, or pillars, carved by stellar winds of the hot bright stars within the nebula. However, to me, this nebula looks like a teddy bear staring straight at us from space.

2022年10月11日 · The actual NGC7822 (also known as Sh2-171 in the Sharpless catalog) nebulosity color is totally false – it was post-processed in a way to enhance and reveal the contrast between the areas containing different elements.

A very young cluster of stars, designated Berkeley 59, is located in the upper center right of the image.

sh2-171 (ngc 7822) Sharpless 171 is a high northern object that is popular among CCD imagers mainly because it has nice structure and picks up well in any imaging system. This Sharpless object also includes the nebula that is north (to the left in this image) that is not part of SH2-171.

Sh2-171 is about 2700 light-years from Earth in the constellation Cepheus. The emission cloud is lit and ionized by the young star cluster Berkeley 59. The image also contains six bright and eight dark nebulae as catalogued by Beverly Lynds.

It is an emission nebula with elephant trunks, or pillars, carved by stellar winds of the hot bright stars within the nebula. However, to me, this nebula looks like a teddy bear staring straight at us from space. The two brightest stars are its eyes, it has large, round red ears, a brown nose, and an inverted V-shaped mouth line.
