We opened Shergarh in 2004 as an intimate and informal camp where like-minded travellers and wildlife enthusiasts come together from all over the world to enjoy the natural wonders of Kanha. Over the past two decades, we have nurtured an old eucalyptus plantation into a young indigenous woodland and witnessed a plethora of wildlife return.

Tucked away on the edge of Kanha Tiger Reserve, Shergarh is a great little wildlife camp of eight tents, offering simple luxuries and rewarding experiences to visitors from across the globe.

Shergarh is located on the edge of Kanha Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh, which lies right in the centre of India. It is an area of outstanding beauty: a series of plateus in the Maikal Hills (the eastern stretch of the Satpura range), densely forested with sal and bamboo and scattered with charming villages.

Safaris usually comprise the main component of a stay at Shergarh, but you can do as many or as little safaris as you like. You may like to opt for back-to-back safaris, booking every slot available during your stay, or mix them up with forest walks, cycling and other activities.

Pashoo Pakshee is an organisation that works with rural communities to create craft-based livelihoods, which alleviates dependency on forest produce, in turn reducing human-animal conflicts. Their women-led centre in Kanha is a short drive or an ideal cycle ride from Shergarh.

We offer our guests a variety of activities during their stay at Shergarh: Accompanied game drives within the core area of the reserve to view the diverse range of wildlife; Early morning bird walks are a great opportunity to explore Kanha's jungle on foot;

Meandering a kilometre behind Shergarh is the Banjaar River, the natural boundary between Kanha’s core zone, where safaris take place, and its contiguous buffer forest, where we can take you for a beautiful, guided walk.
