The elves that turn into Lumiere and Cogsworth... are they actually CALLED Lumiere and Cogsworth? Because it seems a bit strange that they would be called those names if they weren’t. They're never called anything in the film.

Question: Why, when Shrek pushes over the potion, do the two birds in the cage become dancers and two guys turn into Cogsworth and Lumiere (from Beauty and the Beast) while almost everybody else in the room turn into doves?

Shrek poured a giant cauldron of potion all over the factory employees as they fled (two of them were transformed into Lumiere and Cogsworth from Beauty and the Beast (1991)). The Fairy Godmother discovered the missing vial, and cunningly thought to herself: "I do believe we can make this work to our advantage."
