The Simmental (German pronunciation: [ˈzɪməntaːl]; English: Simme Valley) [1] [2] [3] is an alpine valley in the Bernese Oberland of Switzerland. In the west of Lake Thun lies the Simmen Valley (Simmental in German), a lush valley with verdant meadows and a lively river.

The Simme flows eastwards from Boltigen along the Stockhorn and Gantrisch mountain chain towards Lake Thun. It is bordered on the left by the Simmental House Trail with its magnificent wooden houses – while down in the forest gorge of the Lower Simmen Valley, the wild river is ideal for a canoeing or rafting tour.
