The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is the civilian oversight agency responsible for investigating circumstances involving police that have resulted in a death, serious injury, or allegations of sexual assault of a civilian in Ontario, Canada. In 2021, the SIU invoked its mandate 15 times in Durham, compared to 10 times in 2020.

2025年1月2日 · The Special Investigations Unit is a civilian law enforcement agency that investigates incidents involving an official where there has been death, serious injury, the discharge of a firearm at a person or an allegation of sexual assault.

The SIU is an independent government agency that investigates the conduct of officials (police officers as well as special constables with the Niagara Parks Commission and peace officers with the Legislative Protective Service) that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.

In 2023, the SIU invoked their mandate 12 times in Durham, compared to 13 times in 2022.

2024年7月19日 · Withdrawal in this context means removing all course registrations for the term with the intention of leaving the University.
