
Southern Pacific 5021 - Wikipedia
Southern Pacific 5021 is an SP-2 class 4-10-2 steam locomotive built in 1926 by ALCO at their Schenectady, New York, shops. It is the only member of this class of SP locomotives to be preserved, and it is one of only five three-cylinder locomotives preserved in North America.

2025年3月15日 · The SP 5021 is a triple cylinder locomotive; also in the SCC/R&LHS collection is UP 9000, a triple cylinder 4-12-2. When I worked at San Bernardino for the Santa Fe in 1969-70, a yard crew would move SP 5021 every few weeks to spot a carload of salt for the water softener unit that supplied the steam plant with boiler water.

SP 5021 was built at the Schenectedy Works of Alco in 1926. It has 63-1/2" drivers. This unusual locomotive has three cylinders. The two outside cylinders are 25" x 32", while the third inside booster cylinder is 25" x 28". The locomotive weighs 395,700 lbs.

2004年7月27日 · The SP 5021 sat at San Bernardino for a number of years. There was a desire and attempt to operate the engine on excursions. Appearently, the engine was in good order when retired from service. So when the original rail connection to the Pomona fairgrounds was to be removed the engine was moved to San Bernardino.
