2022年4月26日 · We found that the persulfide-responsive transcription factor SqrR may repress the expression of several GTA-related genes in the photosynthetic bacterium Rhodobacter capsulatus. Here, we show that the sqrR deletion mutant (Δ sqrR) produces higher amounts of intra- and extracellular GTA and gene transfer activity than the wild type (WT).

SqrR represses a significant portion (45%) of the sulfide-responsive genes in the absence of exogenous sulfide. SqrR forms an intramolecular tetrasulfide bond between two conserved Cys residues when exposed to GSSH, reducing its DNA-binding activity in vitro .
