2009年12月21日 · I used 2in x 2in hollow steel tubing, with a 1/8 in wall thickness and plain carbon steel as the working material model. The stand is 108 inches long with four evenly spaced support beams on the front and the back. The support beams are 32 in long, giving a total stand height of 36 inches. The stand is 30 inches deep.

2011年2月13日 · tank is framed and the stand is largely level. At least nothing that can’t be solved with shims. My concern was sit being out of square. That said, may have solved it. Backed out the screws and used a mallet…can now bring it back to square. Only downside is I had to use the mallet and need to re-glue and screw.

2015年1月22日 · Next I assembled the top and bottom frames. Building the frames by clamping two of the boards to the corner edge of a table saw or other right angle surface helps to keep them square. I found it easier than using a carpenter’s square. I used a Kreg pocket hole jig and 2 ½” course thread Kreg screws to assemble the entire frame.

2015年1月7日 · Of corse this was a stand for a 10 gal hospital tank not a 90 gal display. I just think my skills as a carpenter are just too shy to get it right. I am a machinist by trade so I like things to be perfect. I thought about making it out of square tube and welding it but the presice size of the aluminum is really appealing.

2022年10月19日 · Your stand is perfect imo. With the cube shape I would also worry about the center load. Even with a rimmed tank. The center would be holding a lot of foce I would think. The cross braces solved that looks rock solid. Agree with @redfishbluefish the sump area looks tight. Im deali g with an aqueon stand and i have the 21" from bottom to the tank.

2017年1月25日 · My current stand is made of hickory 1x4s at the corners with a double laminated 1x4 across the front so I don't need a center brace (48" wide 120 gallon tank.) The really ironic part is, after I finished the stand and put my tank on it, I noticed a slight gap under the center of the tank, just enough to slide a business card into.

2024年4月11日 · The plywood top and sides are just to prevent any twisting or racking forces from forcing the stand out of shape or if someone bumps the stand. At the most, I would use a piece of 1/2" ply on the top, and 1/8"-1/4" to wrap the sides.
