The Strv.104 was given a brand new powerplant, in addition to the REMO package, this stands for Renovation/modification. This powerpack was also shared by the Sho't Kal Alef , comprising a Continental diesel engine coupled with an Allison automatic gearbox.

The Stridsvagn 104 Lynx is a main battle tank developed by Landrut ASA in the 1950s for the Acrean Armed Forces. It is a further development of the Strv 102 which entered service in 1950. The design of the Strv 104 was fundamentally similar to the earlier Strv 102, though with improvements in practically all areas.

The "Strv 104" became the Strv 102 with the Israeli gearbox-motor coupling, 80 of which were numbered in total. The "Strv 105" is a proposed update to the Strv 102R, with a new FCS and suspension - although only one prototype was built.

The Strv 104 were the last serving Centurion in the Swedish Army, in 1983-1987 where 80 of the oldest Strv 102 were to go through another renovation that were in dire need of modernization to extend their service. Strv 104 were upgraded with a new diesel engine and gearbox which would greatly improve the maneuverability of the vehicle.
