For example Vivace, which means "lively", is now usually considered to be a very fast tempo, but in the baroque era was often more of a moderate tempo.

Not bat out of hell uptempo, but what jazz musicians might refer to as "medium up". Feel - yes, swing. By all means. It shows two eighth notes becomes a quarter and an eighth with a three over top.

I'm really interested in Funk timing, I have a looping drum track built into my multi effect pedal and it has everything from rock, jazz, funk, to swing and in between.

2008年5月8日 · Avoiding actually trying to define "swing feel" i think what this trumpet player says rings true and it definitely applies to the bass too, ie playing more even 8th notes at a faster tempo. But also know that some of this is a stylistic choice too, because you can play more even 8th's at slower tempos as well.

Sometimes it just has a tempo indicator like largo, allegro, presto, etc. Marches are a standard 120, so a lot of times they don't even say. (Although I don't expect that you'd be playing many marches.) If it doesn't say at all, then I guess it's up for interpretation.
