Mar 1, 2010 · When the X series Teacs are working, they sound excellent. But they are very prone to capstan motor burnout. This motor is very weak to belong on an open reel machine. Keep your Capstan Belt in good order and use the Genuine Teac part to replace it. Replace it every 3-4 years.

For sale is a TEAC X-7R 7 inch 4 track Auto Reverse Reel to Reel tape deck recorder. It is in very good condition as shown albeit with the dust cover having chips. It has been fully tested and the heads were cleaned and demagnetized for the best sound ever.

Nov 10, 2009 · I found a Teac X-7R MKII. It is in very good cosmetic condition. It is missing the one tension roller guide thingy on the right side (see picture) and one knob is broken a little. I lifted up on the 2 tension rollers and it seems to run ok. I haven't tried any tape.
