The Yamaha TRX850 is a sports motorcycle with a 10-valve DOHC 849 cc 270° parallel-twin engine. First released in Japan in 1995, a version for the European market was available from 1996 to 2000. The TRX has a half fairing, clip-on handlebars and mildly rear-set footrests.

Great bikes but too expensive. The TRX850 was launched as an alternative sports bike. Not a full-on supersports contender but an easy-going, funky road bike. The engine was based on the TDM850 with a new crankshaft and funny firing order that supposedly made the parallel-twin feel like a proper V-twin.

Yamaha's TRX shares its engine and 5-speed gearbox with the 1996 TDM850, a simple way to reduce the costs of introducing two new models. The TDM had a very noisy gearbox that would turn heads at each change in the first two gears.
