CHICAGO –Chief Judge James F. Holderman today announced that Thomas G. Bruton has been selected by the judges of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois to serve as Clerk of Court upon the retirement of Michael W. Dobbins on December 31, 2011.

Bruton said 2023 was a “record-breaking” year for civil suit filings in the Northern District with 9,265 cases filed. It’s the highest total since 2016 and a 29% increase since 2022. “That doesn’t even account for our multi-district litigation (MDL) fil-ings,” he stated.
