U 531 zum Auftauchen gezwungen, konnte aber entkommen. Später ortete der britische Zerstörer "Vidette" das U-Boot und griff es mit Hedgehog-Wasser-bomben an. Es gab zwei deutliche Explosionen und Lichtblitze unter Wasser, dann kam eine große Luftblase an die Oberfläche. Position 52.48N 45.18W.
