The University Police Department provides safety services for the Anchorage campus and residential halls. Fifteen sworn officers, a chief, three sergeants, dispatchers, non-sworn security, civilian records professionals, and student workers show up every day to help you accomplish your educational goals in peace and safety.

UPD is a fully functioning Police Department which is responsible for prevention, response and prosecution of crimes on the campus, in relation to the University’s operations, or which occur in the officer’s presence.

To mitigate crime on campus, we offer a wide range of safety and crime prevention education opportunities like the RAD self defense program and Operation ID to raise awareness within our university community.

The University Police Department at the University of Alaska Anchorage is currently seeking applicants for full-time police officer positions. All officers at the department are sworn police officers and must meet and complete the certification requirements of the Alaska Police Standards Council (APSC).
