2020年10月14日 · Poised at the edge of UCSC’s natural preserve, Oakes is also at the leading edge of scholarship, community-building, and integrated co-curricular experiences. Oakes students are engaged in the arts, humanities, sciences, and engineering, and are represented in all of the majors at UCSC.

Oakes College is a residential college at the University of California, Santa Cruz. It is on the southwestern corner of the campus, south of Rachel Carson College and east of the Family Student Housing complex.

2023年12月6日 · Oakes is the home of the “Certificate in Community Justice and Service Learning”. This program provides students the opportunity to address social justice issues through critical reflection and action. The theme residence program provides a place where differences are not barriers but invitations to grow and collaborate.

Oakes is at the leading edge of scholarship, community-building, integrated co-curricular experiences, and community-engaged learning. Oakes students strive to understand the self, community, and systemic oppression, and take action for change in the world.

The program gives Oakes students the opportunity to learn about their home on campus and in the Santa Cruz region through community and civic involvement, and to improve their communication, research, and advocacy skills. To honor and support student’s investment, the CARA Program offers the CARA certificate.

2022年4月1日 · Oakes College has four apartment complexes, housing a total of 330 students. This year a number of first-year students will live in designated wings of the Kahlo and Shabazz apartment blocks.

2024年5月22日 · At UC Santa Cruz, all students are housed in small-scale residential communities, which provide close-knit living environments within the larger university. Live-in student and professional staff members provide orientation, support services, safety and crisis response, and a variety of social, educational, and cultural programs for residents.

Our students major in every discipline at the University of California, Santa Cruz—from economics and computer science, to theater arts and Latin American and Latino studies—and they are well supported by the depth and breadth of the Oakes College faculty and the extensive knowledge of our advising team.
