The Underwater Demolition Badge is an obsolete badge of the United States Navy which was first created during the Second World War. The Underwater Demolition Badge was established as a decoration for members of Navy Underwater Demolition Teams (UDTs) and is considered a predecessor decoration to the modern day Special Warfare Badge .

For those who served in an Underwater Demolition Team, the U.S. Navy authorized the Underwater Demolition operator badge in 1970. However, the UDT badge was phased out in 1971, a few months after it appeared, as was the silver badge for enlisted UDT/SEAL frogmen.

2020年10月5日 · The UDT badge is now obsolete, but they added the Eagle to the UDT badge to make the SEAL Trident we have today. Now all the SEAL's wear the gold trident. The silver ones are getting scarce and are obsolete, so it would be desirable to hang on to it. All three are good badges and original made for Military use.

2023年9月8日 · I picked up these two UDT badges and cloth SEAL badge. Officer gold marked - VANGUARD V-21 with the backward N. Enlisted silver marked - VANGUARD V-21 with the backward N and SILVER FILLED. Both are early 70s issue. But the cloth SEAL badge has a black board I can find pictures of anywhere except in the Charlie Sheen movie Navy Seals.
