2020年6月14日 · When the two SAS network adapters on the laptop and desktop both had IP addresses 192.168.56.1, pinging the desktop's host name from the laptop returned 192.168.56.1. After changing the laptop's SAS network adapter to 192.168.56.2, pinging the desktop's host name from the laptop returned 192.168.1.9 (the desktop's current local IP).
Passing UNC username and password within a UNC path
UNC and URI are themselves a clear text communication protocol. If that is acceptable security...why not just have an open share without any user or password? The simplest immediate solution would be giving the service credentials direct access to logon to the share (e.g. matching user/password).

My problem is that the name resolution for "hostname" using the UNC name works only on SOME machines inside the network. I just cannot figure out what the differences are between those on which the name resolution works and the once on which it does not. Using the IP address of the vm (\\a.b.c.d\ShareName) also works on all machines.
