US 6 follows the Cleveland Memorial Shoreway into Downtown Cleveland, entering downtown by crossing the Detroit–Superior Bridge. US 6 follows Superior Avenue through Public Square and the east side of Cleveland before turning east onto Euclid Avenue in East Cleveland and Chardon Road in the city of Euclid.

Today, US 6 begins at the northern end of Bishop, CA at the junction with US 395. U.S. Route 6 (US 6) in New York is a 77.85-mile (125.29 km) stretch of United States Numbered Highway that spans from the Pennsylvania state line at Port Jervis to the Connecticut state line east of Brewster. Near both ends it runs in close proximity to Interstate 84 (I-84), which otherwise takes a more northerly route through Downstate New York.

US 6 begins in Provincetown, Massachusetts at the end of Cape Cod. The highway follows the cape to the mainland, and then runs along the southern Massachusetts coast to Rhode Island, where it passes through Providence before heading west to the Connecticut border.

US 6 continues to parallel I-70's north side through the broad Colorado River valley through Silt and New Castle, all the way to Chacra, where it ends at Exit 109. Next, there is a Spur US 6 all by itself in Glenwood Springs, near Exit 116.
