The Air Force has fully implemented its new syllabus for training pilots, Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT), formerly known as “UPT 2.5,” the head of the service’s flying training enterprise said recently.

Air Education and Training Command conducts flying training and is responsible for training aircrews and air battle managers, as well as conducting cadet airmanship programs at the United States Air Force Academy for more than 3,400 cadets per year.

All pilots start their training with Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT), which is designed to prepare them for the full spectrum of aircraft and missions in the Air Force.

The 2025-2026 Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT) window will open on October 1st, 2025 and close November 1st, 2025. We expect to interview selected candidates in the spring of 2026.
