During the deployment, Seneca’s crew conducted law enforcement operations on the high seas to disrupt illegal narcotics smuggling.

Noteworthy high seas rescues, courageous crews, and dependable performance of routine law enforcement and military duties characterized her 28 years of service. After a November 6, 1908 commissioning, the first SENECA responded to a distress call on January 23, 1909 from the passenger liner REPUBLIC.
