2024年1月1日 · Commissioned in 1911, the USS Florida (BB-30), a Florida-class battleship, played a significant role in the United States Navy during the early 20th century. With dimensions including an overall length of 521 feet, a beam of 88 feet, and a displacement exceeding 21,800 tons, the USS Florida was a formidable presence on the seas.

The armament consisted of 5x2-30,5cm12” /45 Mark 5 guns, 16-12,7cm/5” /51 guns, 4-5,7cm/6pd/2.2” guns, 2-3,7cm/1pd/1.5” guns and 53,3cm/2-21” submerged torpedo tubes. In 1917 were 2-7,6xm/3” /23 anti aircraft guns added. Originally was a main armament of 8-35,6cm/14” /45 guns planned but these were not available at the time.

Following the United States' entry into World War I, Florida completed exercises in the Chesapeake Bay and proceeded with Battleship Division 9 to join the British Grand Fleet at Scapa Flow, Orkney Islands, on 7 December 1917.

On 7 December 1941 Utah was torpedoed and sunk by Japanese aircraft in the opening moments of the Pearl Harbor raid. The Florida class numbered two ships, both built on the east coast: Florida (BB-30), built at the New York Navy Yard, Brooklyn, New York. Keel laid in March 1909; launched in May 1910; commissioned in September 1911.
