The Grand Mosque of Bursa (Turkish: Bursa Ulu Cami) is a historic mosque in Bursa, Turkey. It was commissioned by the Ottoman Sultan Bayezid I to commemorate his great victory at the Battle of Nicopolis and built between 1396 and 1399.

This style of mosque architecture—a big stone square or rectangle topped by small domes—is characteristic of the early Seljuk Turkish empire.

Bursa Ulu Cami, Orhan Gazi Parkı'nın bulunduğu geniş bir alana, Yıldırım Bayezid zamanında, 1396-1400 yılları arasında yapılmıştır. Osmanlı camileri arasında çok kubbeli anıtsal yapıların ilkidir. Ulu Cami’nin on iki büyük dört köşeli paye üzerine oturan yirmi kubbesi bulunmaktadır.

This mosque became the largest example of multi-domed mosque architecture within Ottoman architecture. By the period’s scholar men, “Ulu Cami” is recognized among the holy places within Islam as to be on the fifth place (after Mecca, Medina, Jerusalem and Damascus). “Ulu Cami” is built with a rectangular plan.

Bursa Ulu Camii was built from 1396 to 1400 on the orders of the Ottoman Sultan Bayezid I. Guarded by two minarets, the external view of the Great Mosque is quite plain but once you step inside, impressive arches, columns decorated with exquisite Islamic calligraphy and many other features show the magnificence of this mosque.
