Unpopular opinion, you don't need a V8 : r/Trucks - Reddit
Oh man, I totally agree, just saying I was impressed with the smaller engine. I still prefer the older V8 trucks for longevity and ease of maintenance, especially compared to the new trucks, regardless of engine, everything is less accessible now, so much of the stuff you used to do under the hood, they now have to pull the whole body off to get too.

2024年3月14日 · I’ve never owned a diesel before. I have owned half ton gas V8 trucks. I’m now looking to get a new diesel 2500. However, I have heard horror stories of massive maintenance and repair costs, and Chevrolet’s 6.6L gas engine and Ford’s 6.8L gas engine look pretty nice for my needs What can I expect for yearly maintenance costs on a new ...
Fullsize V6 vs V8. : r/Trucks - Reddit
2017年1月25日 · 150/0 trucks are limited to 7000 GVWR by the legal definition of a light duty truck. That includes the weight of the frame, the powertrain, the cab, the people, and what's in the bed and everything supported by the four wheels of the truck. Thus the limit does not include the weight of a trailer.
V6 vs V8? : r/Trucks - Reddit
2015年9月25日 · If you are looking at a mini truck (colorado/s10/tacoma) then a v6 is plenty. If you are getting a larger truck like a silverado, f-150, or a 1500 ram then a v8 would be more to your liking since a v6 can get it going. But it would require more effort to do so. Also, are you looking at brand spanking new or an older rig?

I Had a 2017 sierra elevation with the 5.3, 2019 f150 with the 5.0 and a 2021 with the 3.5 ecoboost. I pull a small trailer 4500lbs and the 5.3 felt underpowered, got horrible gas mileage pulling the trailer, trannyvhad some rough shifts as well.

2024年1月4日 · I heard both stuff like ''they don't turn at all'' and '' they turn nice almost like independent trucks''. Thanks a lot! So, I currently have independent forged hollow 139's but skate them on an 8.375'' deck plus I have an 8.94'' deck waiting to be skated, so I think I …
V4, V6, V8 truck engine gas mileage comparison?
Fords Ecoboosts only get better fuel mileage compared to a V8 if you drive them conservatively. Motor Trend did a year long road test with both a 3.5 Ecoboost and a 5.0 F150 and the average fuel economy difference throughout a series of tests was the 5.0 actually got better fuel economy - you can really burn some dinosaur juice if you hit the throttle in a truck with a turbo.
ELI5 - Why can't V8 trucks shut off half their cylinders on demand?
And both Dodge and the engine computer are well aware of that. Especially with an automatic, where the accelerator position is more of a request for torque than anything else - the computer knows what gears it has available, what the BSFC map of the engine in various modes is, and what other limitations are in place on the system for longevity or whatever.
Do V8 midsize pickups not exist anymore? : r/Trucks - Reddit
2021年8月3日 · But V8s in smaller-than-full-size trucks were for the most part a curiosity. I can't think of any besides the Dakota (318/5.2L, later 4.7L) and the brief usage of the 5.3L V8 in the Colorado/Canyon. Like others said, the modern V6s (and even some turbo I4s!) can put out the same power with much better fuel economy, rendering the V8 obsolete.
