Aug 11, 1999 · Voltage pre-charge [VPC] pins forma a 'make first / break last' contact. They are intended to be used as pre-charge power sources for live insertion logic. These pins were added to the 160 pin P1/J1 and P2/J2 connectors in the VME64x specification. The VPC pins are connected to the +5 VDC power supply on VME64x backplanes.
Transition modules do not connect to VMEbus but just to the VMEbus module on the opposite side of the backplane via the user defined pins of the J0, J2 and J3 connectors. Asynchronous with 4 edge handshaking. VMEbus is big endian.
P1/J1 and P2/J2 Connectors The VME64x specification describes three connectors for VMEbus modules. These are called the P0/J0, P1/J1 and P2/J2. The 'P' and 'J' nomenclature refers to the PLUG (male) and JACK (female) connectors, which reside on the bus module (daughtercard) and backpanel respectively.
